This is the first in a series of posts that Eneris will be doing to highlight features that help Home Inspectors save time and enable them to do more inspections.
A lot of our customers have been asking for ways to reduce the amount of time it takes to complete an inspection report. While everyone loves that Eneris automatically adds your custom comments and descriptions to a library, often those descriptions are unique to a site. And while the mobile app makes compiling the report on site much easier, an iPhone often isn’t large enough to type comfortably. So we thought we’d highlight the “Talk to Text” feature available in Apple iPhone and iPad.
Save time typing comments and descriptions. Talk to text lets you dictate your comments directly into the Eneris mobile app. Dictate your comments as you’re doing the inspection to retain all your thoughts and not be limited by how long it takes to type. Eneris Home Reporting Software helps Home Inspectors save time in compiling quality inspection reports, enabling them to do more inspections.
Note that on iPhone 6s or later, and iPad, you can use dictation without being connected to the Internet. Earlier models of iPhone and iPad require an Internet connection.
How to use Talk to Text
Let’s say you’re doing a Home Inspection using the Eneris Home Inspection Reporting Mobile App. You’re inspecting the exterior of a home and you need to report on the Stucco
Open the report and select the Exterior Tab and then click on Exterior Wall Coverings.
In the Description field you will find that Stucco is already available in the drop-down list.
You want to report that the Stucco has mildew but also some cracks on the north wall of the house.
Click on the Condition field and find that mildew is already available in the drop-down list. So just click on that to add it as a description of the condition of the stucco.
Now you also want to add that there are cracks in the stucco and where they are located. That’s a lot to type in. So instead simply click on the “Microphone” icon at the bottom of the keyboard. Clicking on this will turn on the “Talk to Text” feature.
Now simply speak the condition into the phone and it should show up in the text field.
When you’re finished, tap the keyboard icon and then the “Done” button.
Your comments have been captured and entered as text into the report without a lot of time spent typing.
